'Bachelor in Paradise' star's fall from grace leads to a surprise exit

On Bachelor in Paradise Monday night, the war between John Paul Jones and Derek Peth over Tayshia Adams came to a head, when Derek attempted to clear the air with his former Paradise roomie, who was going completely off the rails. Unfortunately for Derek, regardless of the drama, Tayshia just wasn't that into him and, out of respect to Derek, Tayshia had to let him down. Having already been dumped by Demi Burnett prior to Tayshia, Derek decided Paradise just wasn't for him anymore. "This is really hard to talk to a group of people who I've really grown so close to. I thank all of you guys for all the friendships that I've built here. But, you know, unfortunately, this time, for me, that's all I've been able to build. You know, I'm actually gonna head out now. I love so many of you in so many ways and just thank you all," Derek told his fellow paradisers. Tayshia was in tears over the news because she felt responsible and guilty for his decision to depart Paradise. "It just sucks to see someone else's decision based off of something you said," said Tayshia. "I just feel bad. I just feel sad, that's all. I hate that I had so much power over, like, his feelings, really. That hurts." Demi also felt a little guilty. "There's a part of me that feels a little bit guilty that I couldn't give Derek what he came here to look for. God, I just feel so bad. I feel bad for him. I hate that it, like, came to this point," said Demi. "It's really sad to see someone who's so great and deserves to actually, like, find someone and to be happy, to see him be so unhappy today. I mean, it broke my heart." Fans were heartbroken for Derek. Some have even called for him to become the next Bachelor. Meanwhile, JPJ was a Bachelor Nation favorite, but after showing his crazy side, they began to turn on him. With the power this week, Tayshia was left unsure about her feelings for JPJ and, instead, was heartbroken over Derek's departure. In a teaser for Tuesday night's episode, Tayshia says, "Maybe I should just go home."
