Austin news: Collision kills 1, injures 4, including child; Later, vehicle hits pedestrian

A head-on crash overnight in Southeast Austin killed one person and left four others seriously injured, including one child, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

The collision happened about 12:30 a.m. near McKinney Falls Parkway and Dee Gabriel Collins Road. One person died at the crash site. STAR Flight airlifted one adult to Dell Seton Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Medics took another adult to South Austin Medical Center with serious injuries. A child and an adult were taken to Dell Children’s Medical Center, also with serious injuries.

A cause for the crash was not given. The name and age of the deceased has not been released, nor other details about those injured.

About three hours later, medics responded to 7000 E. US 290 Service Road after an adult was struck by a vehicle. Medics reported the patient suffered critical, life-threatening injuries and was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center.
