AUSTIN

District wins architecture award

The Austin school district was selected as a Caudill Award winner in the 2021-22 Exhibit of School Architecture competition.

The competition showcases new and renovated Texas schools and celebrates excellence in planning and design of the learning environment. The winning projects will be on exhibit at the Texas Association of School Administrators' Midwinter Conference in Austin from Sunday through Wednesday.

The Austin district won for its Doss Elementary School, designed by Stantec. This replacement school with an owl mascot — known as the “School in the Trees” — shares its site with a city park and embraces sustainable, biophilic design to further reinforce its setting in nature.
