Auburn football adds DL Morris Joseph as transfer from Memphis Tigers
AUBURN — Former Memphis defensive tackle Morris Joseph committed to Auburn football as a graduate transfer Wednesday night.
He is the eighth player Auburn has landed out of the transfer portal this offseason. Joseph recorded 117 tackles in three years at Memphis, highlighted by an impressive 2020 season with 52 tackles including seven sacks.
The 6-foot-2, 275-pound lineman added 38 tackles, 20 of which were solo in nine starts last season. His sack total dropped to 1.5.
Joseph is from Orange, Texas, and he started his career at Iowa Western Community College before transferring to Memphis.
He adds vital experience to Auburn's deep interior defensive line, which is quickly becoming one of the roster's strongest position groups. Colby Wooden led all SEC defensive tackles last season in pressures (41) and defensive stops (37), according to Pro Football Focus.

He and Marcus Harris are the returning starters, but Harris will have competition from transfers like Joseph and Jayson Jones, a 320-pound force from Oregon.
Auburn veterans such as Marquis Burks, who had two sacks and two forced fumbles as a role player last season, is also in the mix.
Joseph played 575 snaps last season, 605 in 2020 and 349 in 2019 (1,529 total snaps at Memphis).
