Attend the local DFL precinct caucus from your home: Letter

For several years, I have encouraged people to do more politically than vote — I have come to believe that voting is not enough to make the impact most of us would like to make. And when I first became active in local politics about six years ago, one of the most realistic things that someone told me was “remember, people are BUSY.”

This year I am very happy to see that busy people in St. Cloud area’s Senate District 14 can “attend” their precinct caucuses from their homes.

Go to caucusfinder.sos.state.mn.us and type in your ZIP code and address. You’ll get your ward number [each precinct is within a ward] and precinct number [mine is W3, P5].

If you want to know what usually happens at precinct caucuses, there is a lot of information at the Minnesota DFL website, dfl.org.

But if you live in Senate District 14 and you just want to hold up your hand and say, “here I am! I want you to hear me!” just go to https://sd14dfl.com/caucus-2022. There you will find the “Non-attending Caucus Form.”

I am a member of the MN DFL Senate District 14 Central Committee, but they have not authorized me to write this letter. I am doing this as an excited private citizen. The local DFL party can always use whatever help anyone wants to give, but I would like more busy people to have the opportunity to just weigh in and tell us what issues they care about. You can do that on the “Non-attending Caucus Form.” There is a section titled “Who are the candidates you support…? ...What issues are important to you… ?"

Fill in that box, please. Tell us which issues you care about; tell us what you would like to see done. This process should take you less than 5 minutes. I encourage you to also tell us who you are. I cannot promise that you will not be contacted and asked if you want to do more to help; I can promise that you can ignore any request to help.

Unlike many people, I am happy to discuss politics and I am happy to tell you as much as I can about the process even if we disagree. I may be reached at kevin@carplaw.com.
