From Delish

Allow me to reintroduce myself: You can now call me Lady Jackie of Los Angeles! Related: I have an unhealthy obsession with period pieces. I think I've watched nearly every period piece TV show there is known to man. So when Bridgerton hit Netflix, you know I had to dedicate eight hours to a full-on binge. It had everything I want from a period piece from the opulent costumes, the regency romance, the society drama and a lot of decadent food.

...So, like any logical super-fan, I time-traveled via food and ate like the Bridgertons for three days!

The book that the series Bridgerton is based on is set from 1813-1827, so the food I tried was heavily inspired by that era. I also tried food from the Victorian era (1837-1901) because Queen Victoria had a very interesting diet that I could not pass up.

Here are my top three favorite things I tried, but make sure to check out the full video to see everything I ate.

Queen Cakes

These cakes were popular in England during the 18th and 19th centuries. The key ingredients are currants, sherry wine, rose water, and nutmeg. Queen cakes were the perfect thing to snack on during tea time.

Crab

Like it is today, crab was a luxury back then. In the show Bridgerton, anytime they had a banquet or a social ball, you would see towers of lobster and crab. They spared no expense when it came to throwing special events.

Scotch Whiskey

Queen Victoria could eat seven-to-eight courses in 30 minutes—she was in a hurry to get the good stuff—whiskey. She was known for loving scotch whiskey and persuading her subjects to drink it. I was so happy I was able to find a whiskey that dated back to the 1800s—that, my friends, is how you end a dinner.
