The Arizona State football team has decided to keep Herm Edwards as head coach.

But could it soon be searching for a new offensive coordinator?

Zak Hill, ASU's current offensive coordinator, has been linked to the Auburn and Nebraska vacancies at that position.

CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd recently reported that Hill, who coached with Auburn coach Bryan Harsin at Boise State, "appears to be the favorite" for the position with the Tigers.

Auburn fired Mike Bobo as its offensive coordinator earlier this month after one season with the team.

Football Scoop reported that "sources in the profession expect Harsin to opt for the familiar" and hire Hill.

It wrote: "Zak Hill recently completed his second season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Arizona State following four years in the same role under Harsin at Boise. The Sun Devils ranked third in the Pac-12 in yards per play this season (6.4). In Hill's three seasons as Harsin's sole offensive play-caller, Boise State finished second, second and first in the Mountain West in scoring."

Auburn Wire wondered if Hill would work at Auburn based on his record at ASU.

Lance Dawe wrote: "If you follow college football closely, you might have heard of the name Jayden Daniels. He plays quarterback for Arizona State. He was phenomenal in his freshman season back in 2019 with the Sun Devils, with a TD/INT split of 17/2, which is absolutely incredible. Since 2019, Zak Hill has taken over as the offensive coordinator at Arizona State, and the numbers have not been pretty for Daniels."

Fansided looked at why Hill could be Harsin's first choice as offensive coordinator.

Mary Kate Hughes wrote: "Arizona State offensive coordinator Zak Hill could be Harsin’s number one choice for the vacant position due to his experience in playcalling and his experience at Boise State. That’s right, Hill served as Boise State’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Harsin from 2016-2019, and he could be interested in teaming back up with his former HC. FootballScoop.com reports that under Hill’s coaching in 2020, the Boise State offense finished in the top 2 in the Mountain West for three consecutive years, and he would be joining fellow former Boise State coaches Brad Bedell and Eric Kiesau. If it takes familiar faces for Harsin to have success in 2022, then that’s who he needs to hire because he can’t afford to have another no-win November next season and expect to stick around."

While the speculation hasn't been as prevalent with Hill and Nebraska, his name has come up as a possibility to be the next offensive coordinator there, too.

The Lincoln Journal Star listed Hill as a candidate to fill the role in Scott Frost's staff that was vacated when Matt Lubick was fired last month.

Omaha.com reported that Hill "doesn't appear to be NU's top choice at the moment."

Interestingly, Mountain West Wire recently listed Hill as a potential candidate to be the next head coach at Colorado State, but that job went to former ASU assistant Jay Norvell, who had been the head coach at Nevada.
