Assistant principal named for Suffield High School

Jan. 24—SUFFIELD — The Board of Education has selected longtime local educator Shannon Insero to fill one of the two assistant principal positions at Suffield High School.

The board made that decision with the belief that Insero, who has held the position on an interim basis for the past six months, is up to the task, Chairwoman Maureen Sattan said.

Insero is an excellent collaborator, and cares about students and staff alike in a way that's unparalleled, Sattan said.

Insero has been working in Suffield since 2003, when she took a job at A. Ward Spaulding School. Since then she has held multiple positions, including teacher, library media specialist, and STEM Instructional coach, until becoming interim assistant principal about six months ago.

"She has gained the trust and respect of the entire school community as a result of her high expectations, enthusiasm, dedication and commitment," a news release from the district said.

Sattan said the other two top positions at the high school are also staffed on an interim basis right now. Matthew Dobi currently holds the other interim assistant principal position, while Assistant Superintendent Michelle Zawawi is acting as the principal.

She said the board will be working to permanently fill those positions too.
