During our recent Nurses and Healthcare Professionals Week celebrations, we recognized the many contributions of our medical staff and associates to the quality of care and life in our community. I’m so incredibly proud of our team that I wanted to take a moment to share some of their accomplishments with you.

Through the focused efforts of our medical staff and associates, we recently achieved our second back-to-back ‘A’ Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, which represents a hospital’s overall performance in protecting patients from preventable harm and error.

In December 2021, we were named to the U.S. News & World Report's inaugural list of Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.

Both are prestigious accomplishments that require everyone’s commitment to safe, high-quality care.

At the same time, we have continued to add to our team and expand our services and programs.

For example, we successfully recruited an orthopedic surgeon to our community, Daniel Samani, MD, who brings with him 27 years of experience. In January we also welcomed Seth Oliphant, MD, whose specialty is Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

We recently became one of the few locations in Kansas to offer prostate-specific membrane antigen PET studies, which is designed to detect positive lesions in the prostate, lymph nodes, bones, and other parts of the body that other types of imaging scans may not pick up.

We also introduced on-site genetic counseling through CORA, Ascension Via Christi Cancer Outreach and Risk Assessment, giving our community close-to-home access to this potentially life-saving service.

As you can see, we continue to grow while at the same time maintaining a high-level of quality and safety. I am thankful for our team who makes it all possible.
