Arts for Vets to host 'Holiday Open House' on Saturday, Dec. 3, in Grand Forks
Dec. 2—GRAND FORKS — The Arts for Vets organization is hosting a "Holiday Open House" from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Arts for Vets Gallery, 215 N. Third St. in Grand Forks.
The public is invited to stop in and "see the spectacular artwork created by veterans and active-duty military artists and creators," said Kim Forness Wilson, executive director.
"Have a treat and a look around, get a few gifts, and see all the new things we have planned for 2023," Wilson said.
The organization also is hosting an "Open Salon" from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, when artists are invited to come and paint, learn new techniques, and make new friends, Wilson said. The salon is free and open to all ages; families are welcome.
At the "Bead Class," set for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, participants can learn Native American and contemporary beading from Tammy Nadeau, of Grand Forks, who is a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. The class is free and open to adults; children are welcome with an adult helper.
Arts for Vets also is exhibiting a show, titled "In Memoriam," through the end of this month at the East Grand Forks Campbell Library. The exhibit features the works of Roger Westerso, Zac Lee, Senta Lauren, Cassidy Houser and others.
Arts for Vets operates on monetary and art supply donations and with the help of volunteers, Wilson said.
