The Atlanta Falcons won a physical battle against the Cleveland Browns Sunday, rushing for 202 yards on the ground during their 23-20 victory.

It was the kind of game that fans expected when the team hired Arthur Smith as head coach in 2021. On a day where Cordarrelle Patterson had just nine carries for 38 yards, the Falcons’ other backs stepped up and led the team to a win.

Rookie Tyler Allgeier had 10 carries for 84 yards, Caleb Huntley had 10 carries for 56 yards, and Avery Williams had a single carry for 21 yards in Week 4. After the game, Smith said he knew it was going to be a physical game and was happy to see the Falcons execute on the ground in the fourth quarter regardless of who was on the field.

“When the line’s running like that, that’s what you call being in the flow,” said Smith during his postgame press conference. “Proud of those guys. We knew it was going to be a big boy fight, and seeing all the run attempts — always thought the team that ran the ball better today was going to win and that held true, thankfully.”

The Browns also ran the ball well Sunday. Cleveland finished with 177 rushing yards, including 118 from star running back Nick Chubb. Atlanta’s depth proved too much for the Browns in the end, though.
