Jul. 3—The July edition of the local TV program hosted by state Sens. David G. Argall, R-29, Rush Twp., and John T. Yudichak, I-14, Swoyersville, reviews their recent visit to Eckley Miners' Village in the Hazleton area.

"Eckley Miners' Village, just like neighboring Jim Thorpe, Pottsville and Tamaqua, showcases the history of our region," Argall was quoted in a news release. "It's one of the many attractions that continues to bring visitors to the area to appreciate the unique culture of the region that helped drive the Industrial Revolution."

Eckley Miners' Village has been open for the last 52 years and offers visitors a first-hand experience of what it was like to live in a 19th century company mining town. The site is operated by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and features several exhibits including a museum showcasing the importance of the anthracite coal industry, miners' houses from the 1850s, a doctor's office from 1874, and two 19th century churches.

Eckley served as the set of the 1970 film "The Molly Maguires" starring actors Sean Connery and Richard Harris.
