Area Soccer: PCM gets first win, shuts out Atlantic

Apr. 11—ATLANTIC — Tyler Kuecker had two goals and an assist and Carson VandeLune scored once and delivered an assist during the PCM soccer team's 3-0 road win over Atlantic on Friday.

The Mustangs led 1-0 at halftime on VandeLune's goal. The assist went to Kuecker.

Kuecker made it 2-0 with 8 minutes to go and 3-0 with 4 minutes to play and PCM (1-2) finished off the shutout for its first win of the season.

Chariton 5, PCM 1

MONROE — The Mustangs' lone goal came on a penalty kick by Kuecker, but Chariton led 2-1 at halftime and outscored the Mustangs 3-0 in the second half.

The Chargers improved to 1-1 on the season.

GIRLS

Des Moines Christian 1, Central Iowa United 0, shootout

URBANDALE — Central Iowa United and Des Moines Christian played 100 minutes without scoring a goal on Thursday.

The Lions won the match after outscoring CIU 3-2 in the shootout. Baxter's Cassy Berg and Lilie Vansice converted the two penalty kicks in the shootout.

CIU falls to 0-2 on the season.
