Area news in brief for Jan. 20

MARLINGTON BOARD – Marlington Local Schools Board of Education plans a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Marlington High School Digital Learning Zone. The board will recess into executive session to discuss two issues, one to consider the employment/evaluation of a public employee, and one for matters required to be kept confidential by federal laws, federal rules or state statutes. The meeting can be live-streamed via the Marlington Technology Department’s YouTube page.

MAHONING VACCINES – Mahoning County Public Health will offer COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters at a clinic from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive in Austintown. Those ages 5 and older are eligible for a free vaccine, and everyone ages 12 or older is eligible for a free COVID-19 booster shot. The following vaccines will be available: boosters of Pfizer for those ages 12 and older; and first or second doses of Pfizer for those 12 and older or Moderna for those 18 and older. Appointments can be made through the county’s scheduling system, ArmorVax, at www.mahoninghealth.org. Appointments also are available at 330-270-2855, Ext. 185. Walk-ins will also be accepted at the January 21st clinic. Recipients are to bring their ID and COVID vaccination card. For children ages 5 to 11, contact the agency’s Nursing Division at 330-270-2855, Opt. 3, to schedule an appointment to receive a COVID vaccine.
