Area Baseball Roundup: ACGC's bats blast BOLD

Apr. 17—BIRD ISLAND — With four players scoring multiple runs and strong middle-of-the-order efforts from Zach Bagley and Jaxon Behm, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City defeated BOLD 14-7 in a non-conference baseball game Friday afternoon.

Bagley was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, three stolen bases and two runs scored. Behm was 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs while also getting the win on the mound after tossing five innings.

Hunter Bjur scored four times for the Falcons, followed by three runs from Josh Kingery and a pair from Bagley and Jack Peterson.

For the Warriors, Aiden Elfering hit two home runs — a two-run shot in the third and a solo homer in the sixth — for three RBIs and two runs. Tate Sheehan belted a triple while Avery Herdina, Eli Walton and Zeke Walton each banged out doubles.

Zeke took the loss for BOLD after going the first three innings.

The Falcons travel to Eden Valley-Watkins for their Central Minnesota Conference opener on Tuesday. The Warriors have their West Central Conference opener at home Tuesday with a doubleheader against Montevideo.

With Brandon Jergenson keeping New London-Spicer's offense at bay, Morris/Chokio-Alberta was able to hang on for a non-conference win at Green Lake Diamonds in Spicer.

Jergenson picked up the win after striking out eight with two runs (both unearned) allowed on two hits and two walks.

The Tigers were led by Zach Bruns, who was 4-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, a run and an RBI.

Matt Kaemer finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Wildcats. Hayden Christopherson was hit with the loss following four innings of work.

Sam Lenarz's RBI single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning enabled Benson to earn a walk-off win over visiting Lac qui Parle Valley.

LQPV took a 5-3 lead in the top of the sixth on Carter Amland's bases-clearing double.

Benson then scored four in the bottom of the seventh.

Lenarz's hit brought home Dylan Ascheman, who had an RBI single to cut the deficit to 5-4. Isaac Minchow's RBI fielder's choice tied it up. Then came Lenarz's hard-hit ball, which bounced off the shortstop, who dove for the ball.

Alex Call had a big night both on the mound and at the plate to help give Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg the non-conference victory against Border West in Sunburg.

Call was the winning pitcher after striking out nine and allowing just one hit and two walks over four scoreless innings. On offense, he was 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases.
