Sandals can be both a joy and a challenge: A joy in that there’s no better feeling than getting your feet out of closed shoes and into the open air. And a challenge in that many of the best-looking pairs offer no arch support. We’re here to help. As you may have heard, Amazon is having its Big Style Sale right now. The joint is stocked with sandals. But finding the best sandals for arch support can be hard. So we worked with a foot doctor to curate a list of great options.

New York City podiatrist Dr. Polina Zaydenberg favors footbeds made of cork and memory foam. And though, not surprisingly, the doc warns that “dressy sandals don’t typically provide much support,” she worked with us to find a pair that will have you ready to dance the night away, should the opportunity arise. Keep scrolling to find the best sandals for arch support—they’ll lift you up where you belong.

A rubber sole and water-resistant nubuck make this the perfect sandal for hanging by the pool or hitting the beach. More importantly, “the shank looks sturdy and supportive,” according to Dr. Zaydenberg—and that rubber outsole provides great shock absorption, too. In 11 colors.

This pretty little thing is made entirely of leather and also comes in black, yellow and mint green. While Dr. Zaydenberg isn’t a fan of high heels, she says a low heel like this one can actually be beneficial, because of the redistribution of weight: “It’s great for people with achilles tendonitis or those with heel pain caused by plantar fasciitis.”

Adjustable buckle straps spaced to truly secure a foot, plus a molded footbed, make this pair a winner. “There is a well-developed heel seat,” Dr. Zaydenberg says of the shoe. “The shank has a pronounced arch, and the metatarsal area is off-loaded—all good things.”

This glitzy thong has earned Dr. Zaydenberg’s stamp of approval. “The shank is made out of cork, so it’s semi-flexible,” she says. This makes it “good for people with arthritis. It’s not adding much pressure to those [problematic] areas.” Available seven ways, some with the cork footbed exposed, for a rustic-meets-glam effect.

Grab these when you want to take a vigorous walk without suffocating your feet in sneakers. These open athletic sandals are like a spa day for the sole (heh heh). The construction makes them flexible and the outsole provides plenty of traction, but it’s the memory-foam footbed that Dr. Zaydenberg likes best. “Memory foam is very soft, but it’s accommodative,” she explains. “It’s great for people with bunions, hammertoes or prominent metatarsal head areas.” Also in charcoal, light gray and rose.

A secure fit is key for overall comfort (arch support is useless if your foot is sliding around). This pair, with an adjustable closure around the ankle, ensures a cozy fit. The interior zip makes it easy-on, easy-off. Dr. Zaydenberg praises the memory foam sole, adding that this is a good pick especially for those with back issues. The soft sole also provides some shock absorption.

These sporty sandals have a small platform and a high-rebound insole for ultimate comfort. Dr. Zaydenberg is a fan of the insole and also appreciates the traction this pair provides. She’s in good company. With more than 2,900 reviews, these shoes have an average rating of 4.6 stars. (One reviewer, who stands all day for her job as a teacher, said “Mission Comfy Shoes...accomplished!”)
