Ashland Bandshell Summer Concert Series performances

From 8-9:15 p.m. Sundays and Thursdays this summer, concerts take place on the stage of Guy C. Myers Memorial Band Shell. Performances coming up are: Northcoast Americana band Hey Mavis (Aug. 11); and Ashland Regional Ballet wrapping up the summer concert series on Aug. 14 with performances in a wide range of styles, including ballet, modern, jazz and tap.

August Music on Main

Falcon Punch will perform at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, followed by Low-E from 7-9 p.m., for Ashland Main Street's free Music On Main offering at Foundation Plaza in downtown Ashland.

Summer Picnic and Sunset Cruises

The Ashland County Republican Party will be hosting a Summer Picnic and Sunset Cruises 6 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 17 at Charles Mill Lake Park, Messerly Recreation Center, 1277 Ohio 430, Mansfield. Cost is $15 per person. Dinner will be provided. RSVP by calling 419-281-9468 by Aug. 16.

Ashland Pride Sidewalk Parade and Pride at Water's Edge

Ashland Pride's second annual Sidewalk Pride Parade followed by the first Pride at Water's Edge will be Aug. 20. The group will meet in Ashland at Main Street and Claremont Avenue at 10:30 a.m and have a sidewalk parade up-and-down Main Street for half an hour to 45 minutes. Then, the group will relocate to Water's Edge Event Center for vendors, live music, live entertainment, three Pride shows hosted by Jasmyn La Basha, DJ Jay Fox of Mix 106.1, PlayZone/KidZone with hula hoops, bubbles, music playing, coloring, costumes, picture props, photo ops, interactive art installations, craft stations, games, activities, free hugs and rest area. Bring blankets and sunscreen and lounge on the lawn while listening to local speakers and musicians. The event at Water's Edge starts at noon, and ends at 6 p.m. After-party is at Riley's Bar, 155 W. Main St., and starts at 7 p.m.

Gospel concert

The gospel group The Perry’s will be performing Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Ashland County Fairgrounds. Seating will be on the track (bring your own chair), or the bleachers and grandstands. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased in the fair office or at the event. Call the fair office at 419-289-0466 for more information.

Open house at Veterans Building on the Ashland County Fairgrounds

The Ashland County Fair Board will have an open house at the Veterans Building to showcase the “Wall of Honor” from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. Pictures are needed. Please drop off a 5 X 7 picture of your Ashland County veteran with name, branch of service and years served (note conflict if applicable) on the back of phototo the fair office. We want to honor all Ashland County military members. The American Legion Auxiliary will provide a patriotic program at 5:30 p.m.

Savor & Sip Event

The Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development is planning its sixth annual Savor & Sip Auction and Food Tasting. The event will take place on Oct. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center in Mansfield.  Businesses in the food industry such as restaurants, caterers and food trucks are invited to have a table at this event to provide tastings of their food to promote their business. There is no charge for Chamber member businesses to provide tastings. A non-member rate is also available.

The Savor & Sip event is a celebration of all things culinary in the area, from mouth-watering appetizers, entrees, desserts, pastries and beverages from some of the area's finest restaurants, caterers, bakeries, delis and beverage companies. There also will be entertainment and a silent auction happening throughout the evening, allowing attendees to bid on a large selection of items.

This event is limited to 550 guests and is typically a sell-out crowd. Entry for attendees is $20 per person when registered by Oct. 11. Attendees will enjoy food samples from 20-plus food vendors and a cash bar also will be available. Historical Society Living History Cemetery Walk

The Ashland County Historical Society is excited to announce the return of the Living History Cemetery Walk at Ashland Cemetery. Ashland’s historical figures will come to life through local re-enactors. Each character will spend a few minutes telling stories about their lives in Ashland and how they were an important part of our history. Period costumes worn by the re-enactors will further heighten the experience with an aura of authenticity.

Join us on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 1 – 3 p.m. for a fun-filled afternoon of education and exploration! Guided tours will begin promptly at 1 p.m., with groups leaving every ten minutes. The last tour will depart at 3 p.m.

The Living History Cemetery Walk is appropriate for families and people of all ages. The event is open to the public for a suggested donation of $5. No reservations are required.
