Apple Event: Here's everything the tech giant revealed

In just under two hours, Apple’s annual event in Cupertino was another showy display that revealed why the iPhone maker remains the buzziest name in consumer technology.

With a slew of updates to its hardware, software and services, the tech giant attempted to appeal to a larger base of customers with lower-than-expected prices on some products — including its hotly-awaited TV+ offering.

Here were the standout announcements:

Apple TV+

The price for the new streaming service was finally confirmed — at $4.99 per month with the family subscription. Apple announced that the first shows would be available November 1; but for consumers purchasing new Apple hardware products, they will get Apple TV+ included for free for one year.

Apple’s first round of new content will include a show called “The Morning Show” featuring Hollywood titans Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carell.

iPhone 11

Apple’s flagship device got a refresh, with the latest batch of iPhones — the 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max offering improved cameras, build quality, and more.

The iPhone 11 starts at $699, while the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max start at $999 and $1,099, respectively. The new models will be available Sept. 20, and replace Apple’s existing top-end phones, the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max.

Some of the more compelling features of the 11 series include:

• 3 rear camera lenses

• 6 different colors — including 3 entirely new ones

• A Super retina XDR display

• A13 bionic chip

Apple Arcade

Apple’s new gaming service, Arcade, is slated for availability September 19 in over 150 countries around the world. The company will be launching over 100 new games, and the subscription service will be $4.99 per month: The first month will be on a free trial basis.

iPad 7th Gen

Apple also announced a new 10.2-inch 7th-generation iPad. The product, available for order immediately, will retail for $329, and ship at the end of the month.

The new iPad follows in the footsteps of the 6th-generation iPad, which has a 9.7-inch screen. It features a retina display with more than 3.5 million mega pixels and boasts a A10 fusion chip.

Though some say the A10 chip is a little behind the curve, the addition of the smart connector means consumers will be able to use Apple's keyboard covers. The iPad will also be made with 100% recycled aluminum.

Apple Watch Series 5

Starting at $399, the new series 5 Apple Watch is available for order immediately, and will hit store shelves on September 20. Apple decided to keep the Series 3 in its lineup, and slashed the price down to $199.

The most noticeable upgrade to the Watch is its always-on display capability. Even with that feature, Apple’s newest watch addition will still have the same battery life as its predecessors due to a power management integrated circuit. The watch will also now have a built-in compass.
