Not all of us are adept with a paintbrush. Or know how to use a pencil to create a beautiful scene. But that’s okay because we have computers with the ability to do that for us now. Like with NVIDIA‘s new app Canvas. It transforms your idle doodles and crude renderings into photorealistic landscapes.
NVIDIA’s newest artificial intelligence program will turn your most basic attempts at crafting nature scenes into something that looks like the work of a skilled photographer. Even if you draw worse than a first grader whose art goes on the refrigerator. The program instantly translates your meager artistic attempts into beautiful images. From Canvas’ official website:
“Paint simple shapes and lines with a palette of real world materials, like grass or clouds. Then, in real-time, our revolutionary AI model fills the screen with show-stopping results. Don’t like what you see? Swap a material, changing snow to grass, and watch as the entire image changes from a winter wonderland to a tropical paradise. The creative possibilities are endless.”
Users can also choose from nine styles that “modify the look and feel of a painting.” As well as 15 different natural materials. Those range from sky and mountains to rivers and stones. You can even “paint on different layers to keep elements separate,” so you can easily play around with your image without losing parts you like.
There’s also a Canvas option for those who truly lack any artistic vision. If you don’t feel like starting with your own drawing, you can begin with a sample scene. Once you’re done with your image, you can then import your piece to Adobe Photoshop. There you can continue to work on it. Or combine it with other elements and artwork.
A beta version of Canvas is available for Windows 10. You don’t need any artistic ability to download it either.
