Anthony Neuer makes PBA Tour history by picking up first televised 7-10 split in 30 years

Anthony Neuer made Professional Bowlers Association Tour history Sunday by picking up the rare 7-10 split in his U.S. Open semifinal matchup.

The 18-year-old became just the fourth player to accomplish the feat during a PBA Tour TV broadcast, and the first to do it on the air since 1991.

The "Ginger Assassin," as Fox Sports play-by-play announcer Rob Stone called him, knocked both pins down to convert the 7-10 in the seventh frame of his match with Jakob Butturff at National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada.

Though Neuer – whose father, Andy Neuer, won a PBA Tour title in 1994 – made history with the event's top highlight, the 26-year-old Butturff would defeat him, 257-203.

Butturff would fall to Chris Via by the slimmest of margins in the U.S. Open final, 214-213. Butturff has finished second in the U.S. Open, one of the PBA Tour's five major titles, three times now. For the 29-year-old Via, the U.S. Open victory is his first PBA Tour title.
