Anthony Davis leaves preseason game with sprained thumb
Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis left Saturday’s preseason game in China against the Brooklyn Nets with a sprained thumb and did not return.

According to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell, Davis appeared to tweak his thumb while going up to block a shot in the first quarter. He initially stayed in, but eventually left for the locker room where he had it wrapped and iced before returning to the bench.
Davis had played 12 minutes, scoring six points on 2-of-7 shooting. He also had three rebounds and two blocks. Davis started Saturday’s game in Shenzhen at center, with head coach Frank Vogel experimenting with his lineups.
Prior to Saturday, Davis had started his Lakers career strongly, averaging 19 points in 21.8 minutes in the first two preseason games. He had instant chemistry with LeBron James, leading to other NBA players calling the Lakers lineup a “fantasy team.”
The Lakers certainly hope that Davis’ injury is not serious and that the “fantasy team” is not short a crucial player before they leave China.
