Annual Bemidji Sings! Vocal Competition set for July 15

Jun. 29—BEMIDJI — Headwaters Music and Arts' annual vocalist competition, Bemidji Sings!, is set for 6 p.m. on Friday, July 15, at the Bemidji Community Theater, 316 Beltrami Ave. NW.

The Bemidji Sings! Vocal Competition is an opportunity for amateur singers who live, work or attend school in Bemidji to compete for cash, prizes and the chance to compete at the statewide Minnesota Sings Vocal Competition on Oct. 1-2 in New Ulm, Minn.

Hosted by local singer/songwriter and musician, Eric Carlson, the show will highlight nine singers in two age groups, 13-20 and 21 and older.

Featured finalists are Jacob Anderson, Helen Bartlett, Katelyn David, Darrolyn Erickson, Sophia Haubrich, Brooke Kemp, Maya Lindquist, Blaine Ludeman and Aspen Tobin. Judges for the final show are Zachary Swank, Pat Mason and NikkiLee Nolden.

The third-place prize in each age category is $75, second place is $150, and first place is $300 along with recording time at Supple Studios. The first and second place winner in each category will be eligible to compete at the state-wide Minnesota Sings Vocal Competition.
