Andrew Luck 'hurt' by booing fans after retirement announcement

Andrew Luck's sudden retirement from the NFL at age 29 did not sit well with some Indianapolis Colts fans.
The news of Luck's decision broke during the team's preseason game at home against the Chicago Bears on Saturday, earlier than the quarterback had hoped. That meant Luck was on the sidelines at Lucas Oil Stadium when supporters at the game found out they had just lost their starting signal-caller.
He left the field in Indianapolis for the final time to a chorus of boos from unhappy fans.

"I'd be lying if I didn't say I heard the reaction," Luck said in an impromptu press conference after the game. "It hurt, I'll be honest. It hurt."
Luck won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award in 2018 after missing the entire 2017 season following shoulder surgery. The 29-year-old has battled a string of injuries since being drafted first overall in 2012.
The Colts will reportedly turn to 26-year-old quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who played the entirety of the 2017 season, as their new starter.
