Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge reopens to traffic ahead of schedule

Roadwork will occur in front of the bridge beginning at 7 a.m. and ending around 11 p.m., weather permitting.

AMBRIDGE — Motorist plagued by lengthy detours around an essential Beaver County bridge can now resume their normal commutes throughout the area.

Ambridge borough announced via Facebook that the Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge had reopened to traffic as of noon Tuesday. The bridge has reopened ahead of its original Dec. 4 predicted completion date.

The bridge was originally closed for necessary safety renovations on Nov. 8. Residents brought the issues facing the roadway to a Beaver County Commissioners meeting earlier this year, with concerns including holes that residents described as "big enough to crawl through."
