Amateur baseball roundup: Colome powers past Miller/Wessington in District 3B tournament

Jul. 29—CHAMBERLAIN — Colome scored nine of its 14 runs in the fourth and five innings to topple Miller/Wessington 14-4 in the District 3B tournament Wednesday.

Ethan Vobr went 3-for-4 with four RBIs for the Chaos, while Jackson Kinzer and Terrance Kinzer had two hits and two RBIs apiece. Jake Luse also knocked in two runs and Ben Connot went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Carter Brickman allowed three earned runs on 10 hits and struck out nine in seven innings for Colome.

Rafael Clemente drove in two runs for the Outlaws, while Ryan Soler went 3-for-4. Josh Koeck also went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Garrett Knox and Dustin Harvey combined to surrender 10 earned runs on 10 hits and six walks, while fanning five.

Colman 7, Salem 3

COLMAN — A four-run third inning sent Colman past Salem in the District 4B tournament on Wednesday.

The A's scored four runs on three hits and two errors in the third, including back-to-back sacrifice flies by Chase Dewitt and Chris Meyer.

Ian Barker had two hits and Jordan Sehr drove in two runs for Colman. Barker also tossed a complete game, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and six walks, while striking out five.

Cole Cheeseman went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Cubs, while Brian Duxbury also knocked in a run. Tyler Earls allowed two earned runs on nine hits and struck out seven in eight innings.

Salem (8-16) plays the loser of Thursday's Lennox/Canova contest at 4:30 p.m. Friday for a chance to go to the state tournament.
