Amateur baseball roundup: Big second inning lifts Bird Island past Granite Falls

Jun. 30—BIRD ISLAND — A six-run second inning carried the Bird Island Bullfrogs past the Granite Falls Kilowatts 9-6 in a Corn Belt League game Wednesday evening.

Jordan Sagedahl went 2-for-4 with a run, three RBIs, a sacrifice fly and a stolen base for the Bullfrogs. Trent Athmann was 2-for-4 with a run and Aidan Elfering was 2-for-5 with a run for Bird Island.

Colton Vien was 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a hit-by-pitch and Bennett Knapper was 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run and two RBIs for the Kilowatts.

Putting together 18 hits, the Atwater Chuckers jumped on the New London-Spicer Twins early in a County Line League victory at Green Lake Diamonds in Spicer.

Josh Cunningham was 2-for-6 with two runs and four RBIs for Atwater. That included a three-run home run to right-center in the top of the first inning.

Jack Peterson was 4-for-5, Josh Kingery was 3-for-5 with a run, and Logan Straumann scored three runs in the victory. Kobe Holtz was credited with the win after tossing the first five innings for the Chuckers.

Ben Kulset finished 2-for-5 with a pair of runs for New London-Spicer. Mike Danielson drove in a run while going 1-for-4.
