Amateur Baseball: Bird Island brings its bats to beat Granite Falls

Jun. 19—GRANITE FALLS — The Bird Island Bullfrogs needed seven innings to beat the Granite Falls Kilowatts 16-0 Friday night in a Corn Belt League amateur baseball game at Richter Field.

The Bullfrogs (5-1 Corn Belt) had 19 hits.

Tyler Hebrinkw as 4-for-5 with three doubles, three runs and two RBI. Trent Athmann was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI. And, Jack Peppel was 3-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Colten Minkel, Dylan Gass and Zeke Walton all had two hits each for the Bullfrogs.

Dylan Lindstrom, Brandon Grund, Tyler Dammann and Ty Schulte each had a hit for Granite Falls (2-3 Corn Belt).

Bird Island is host to Sacred Heart at 1 p.m. Sunday in another Corn Belt game. Granite Falls plays at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Willmar to play the Rails.
