An award-winning Amarillo law firm joined a Texas-wide firm this month, according to a news release.

On Monday, Aug. 1, the attorneys and staff members of Riney & Mayfield, which focuses on civil trials and appellate cases, joined the Underwood Law Firm. The addition expands Underwood's "expertise in the areas of appellate matters, commercial litigation, employment, healthcare and medical malpractice, oil and gas, premises liability, product liability, professional liability and transportation litigation," the release stated.

"Service to clients, community and the legal profession has been the hallmark of both Riney & Mayfield and the Underwood Firm for many years," said Mitzi Mayfield, partner. "Joining forces will serve to continue this culture."

The Riney & Mayfield firm was listed as one of the best firms in the U.S. in the U.S. News and World Report for 2022. Three of the firm's attorneys, Tom Riney, Mayfield and Heath Hendricks, have also been recognized by Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers for multiple years for professional achievement.
