Amanda Knox has some words for Lady Gaga.

The formerly incarcerated American's response to one of the "Bad Romance" singer's recent tweets went viral on Friday, after Gaga tweeted rather cryptically that "fame is prison."

"I hear you, but...prison is prison," Knox replied dryly.

The replies to Knox's tweet show that reactions were all across the map: While a slew of followers reacted with hilarious gifs expressing surprise and awkwardness, there was another faction that proclaimed that "Lady Gaga has just been owned."

"Prison is prison," one person wrote. "Fame is luxury."

Naturally, Gaga's fans came to her defense, with the Little Monsters explaining the meaning behind the singer's initial post.

"You completely missed Lady Gaga's point," one defender wrote. "She means having to live in a fish bowl followed by media and gossiped about all the time."

While Lady Gaga has been subject to media scrutiny since bursting onto the scene over a decade ago with her first album, "Fame," in 2008, Knox is obviously more familiar with, well, actual prison: She was incarcerated in Italy for nearly four years after being convicted of the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, with whom she lived at the time.

Nearly a decade later, in 2015, Knox was definitively acquitted by the Italian Supreme Court.
