Alyssa Evans: Scratchpad: Share your summer-themed poetry

Jun. 23—As spring showers slowly leave the forecast and make way for clear, warm days this month, the North Coast is a little closer to the happy days of summer. As we dust off our outdoor gear and plan new adventures, a fresh season is beginning.

In honor of the new season, a collection of readers' poetry will be featured in an August edition of Coast Weekend. Whether you're already a published writer or want to try writing poetry for the first time, you're welcome to participate.

Poems can explore any topic but those that relate to summer or life on the North Coast are preferred. To participate, send up to three poems to aevans@dailyastorian.com by July 23. Include your name and town of residence in your email.

Other ways to contribute to Coast WeekendIs there a local resident who deserves to be featured in the newspaper? Is there a column you would enjoy reading? Do you think there is something missing from Coast Weekend?

Planning for work in Coast Weekend is underway and your help is sought. If you have an idea for stories that you would like to see this summer, please send your idea via email to aevans@dailyastorian.com or via the "send us your news" tab on coastweekend.com. All submissions will be considered.
