It’s almost KU football game day. Here’s your guide to tickets, traffic, parking and more

The hottest thing in Lawrence right now is the Kansas Jayhawks football team. Off to an undefeated start to the season, the Jayhawks are 5-0, sit at No. 19 in the Associated Press college football rankings and have ESPN’s College GameDay coming to campus for the first time ever.

Tickets are sold out for the Jayhawks’ game against TCU at 11 a.m on Saturday on FS1, marking the third straight game at Booth Memorial Stadium to fill capacity at 47,233 fans. The last time KU had three straight home sellouts was during the 2008 season. The season’s three sellouts were against Texas Tech, Kansas State and Texas.

If you’re lucky enough to score a ticket to the game, this is what you need to know before you go. If you plan on going to the next home game, you’ll have to wait a while. KU doesn’t play in Lawrence again until Nov. 5 against Oklahoma State.

TICKETS

Download your tickets now, or at least before arriving at the stadium. The connection might be bad due to the number of people in one place. You can still get tickets off StubHub, which is KU’s official secondary ticket partner. The lowest price right now is $26, but that may fluctuate over time.

Tickets for future home games can be purchased here. If KU defeats TCU on Saturday, they’ll be eligible for a bowl game, so be on the lookout for information regarding tickets for that game.

WATCH OUT FOR TRAFFIC

KU is asking people to arrive early and find other routes because of construction on K-10 and 23rd Street. Bridge construction on K-10 will be in place until the anticipated completion date of Nov. 18.

You may want to take the Iowa Street/US-59 exit and use Iowa Street to get to the game.

If this may be a problem, you can take the shuttle to the stadium. Bus service is available from lot 54 on Irving Hill Road and from Downtown Lawrence, with two stops near downtown parking garages: 6th St. & New Hampshire St. and 7th St. & Vermont St.

The bus fare is $1 per person roundtrip. The bus runs two hours before kickoff and picks back up at the end of the third quarter. It goes until 30 minutes after the game ends.

PARKING

During home football games, you’ll need a permit to park in lots 36, 39, 52, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 91, 94, 96, 97, 98 and the Mississippi Street Garage. Look at the map of lots here.

If you don’t have a permit, toll parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for lots 34, 54, 61, 72 and the Allen Fieldhouse garage. It costs $30 and is cash only.

All vehicles must be removed from lots 1, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 36/39, 52, 53, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 65, 91, 94, 96, 97, 98 and the Mississippi Street Garage before 4 a.m. on Saturday, or else the cars will be towed.

One-third of lot 91 will be sectioned off to give space to the ESPN crew for College GameDay.

Street parking is available as well, but that may go fast. If you find a spot on the street, observe all parking signs and city ordinances to avoid a parking ticket.

Tailgating is also allowed, but only in your designated parking spot. Keep the party in front or behind your car

The parking lots open six hours before the game kicks off. Parking fees in the downtown garages are waived on game days.
