The Dick Bynum Award has been presented annually to the most outstanding Amarillo-area female college athlete since 2007.

The star athlete to earn the prestigious honor this year was Allie Schulte-Hicks.

Schulte-Hicks excelled on the hardwood both at the high school level while attending Nazareth and throughout her collegiate career at Lubbock Christian University.

While suiting up for the Lady Chaps, Schulte-Hicks played in a program-record 155 games and was a crucial piece in LCU adding two National Championship banners to their rafters. She led the Lady Chaps with 11.7 points per game during her final season in Lubbock and her 320 career steals rank her second all-time in school history. She was also an All-American selection this past season and was the Most Outstanding Player of the 2022 Elite Eight.

At Nazareth, Schulte-Hicks was an All-State selection in both basketball and tennis. The guard helped lead the Swiftettes to three Class 1A state championship titles in four years and was named the AGN Happy State Bank Girls Athlete of the Year following her senior campaign.

Nazareth went 140-11 during her high school career, with all four seasons ending in the state championship game. At LCU, Schulte-Hicks was a perfect 70-0 at home inside the Rip Griffin Center.

Wherever she went, Schulte-Hicks has always been a winner which includes off the playing fields as well. A month ago, she married former Lubbock Christian men’s basketball star, and Lone Star Conference Player of the Year, Parker Hicks ― who also played for Texas Tech.

After beating out Hereford graduate and WT volleyball player Chandler Vogel as well as Caprock grad and WT soccer player Jessica Diaz for the prize, Schulte-Hicks will represent Nazareth and LCU one last time as the winner of the 2022 Dick Bynum Award.

Nazareth ISD will be awarded $1,000 that will go towards the girls' athletic department.
