Alexa Leppelmeier heads list of Walsh track and field All-Midwest Region selections
Walsh's Alexa Leppelmeier is a three-time selection on the 2022 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Division II All-Midwest Region Team.
Leppelmeier was selected in the 1,500 meters, 5,000 and steeplechase. She was chosen USTFCCCA Midwest Track Athlete of the Year after finishing second in the steeplechase and 11th in the 5,000 at nationals.
Thrower Ndidiamaka Anaraodo earned all-region honors in the shot put and discus. Kelsey Hartsock was selected in the pole vault.
The Walsh men's all-region selections are Josh Conrad in the 800 and Micah Gremling in the 200.
Bill Lawrence to coach Malone men's soccer team
Bill Lawrence has been named the Malone men's soccer team's head coach.
Lawrence spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons as an assistant coach with the Pioneers. He is also head coach of the Cleveland Force USL Academy and USL League Two teams.
"Bill's familiarity with Malone University, the men's soccer program and his alignment with our mission to be Christ-centered, athlete-focused and coach-driven make him the right person to guide the program forward," Malone athletic director Tanya Hockman said in a statement. "He brings a wealth of coaching experience and the drive to make a positive impact in the lives of our student-athletes beyond the pitch."
Lawrence has more than 30 years of combined coaching experience at the club and collegiate levels.
Three Purple Raiders earn academic all-league honors
Mount Union's Steven Grenier, Jeremy Leyden and Jakob Yarosh have been named to the Academic All-Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Team.
Grenier and Leyden also were selected to the Academic All-MCVL Team in 2021.
