Transition, growth and maturity are what Flict Ferrari have unleashed in his latest project Lieutenant.

"It's still Montgomery music, 100 percent," said Ferrari, a hip hop/rap artist who grew up in Gibbs Village.

Ferrari is holding an album release party 10 p.m. Friday at Signature Event Center, 5050 Narrow Lane Road. Lieutenant is his first album, which he released over the Thanksgiving holiday.

"It's pretty much going to be crazy," Ferrari said. "You know, I've got a strong support system."

Among the album's songs, "Big Flex" is one of Ferrari's favorites.

"It's raising the story of coming from nothing, overcoming obstacles, accepting new challenges," Ferrari said.

Another album highlight is "Doe B Flow," an all-original piece from Ferrari in honor of slain Montgomery rapper Doe B, who died in 2013 from a gunshot. Ferrari said he had a chance to be around Doe B in the early stages of his career, and Doe B was on Ferrari's first mix tape in 2008.

"It's just appreciating Doe B and what he did for us," Ferrari said. "The song is dope. The song sounds like him. I wrote everything and catered to him, catered to his entourage on how he would do it."

Lieutenant also features several guest artists, including Destiny Turner on "All of Me."

"She killed it," Ferrari said.

Ferrari got his start in music with a childhood friend, Lorenzo. They had a group in Gibbs Village called TVB — The Village Boys.

Ferrari said he started taking music seriously around 2008, and he's kept his focus on bringing the sound of Montgomery's streets.

"The majority of my music comes from what I see," he said. "What I hear. What I know. What I've been through. What I represent."

All the songs on Lieutenant were produced by Deezy Beats of Montgomery.

"He's dope," Ferrari said. "He's a young, up-and-coming producer."

Prior to Lieutenant, Ferrari said he's released singles and a few mix tapes.

Ferrari also has his own management group, FMG - Flict Management Group. He spent the pandemic working with other artists like Hitmaker Q.

"We put out his EP," Ferrari said. "We've been doing a lot of shows on (Hitmaker Q's) behalf."

Follow Ferrari on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat at Flict Ferrari.

"I just want everyone to come out and enjoy the night," Ferrari said.
