Alabama high school football recruits to watch in AHSAA Super 7 state championships

It seems Alabama high school football is home to more and more top college recruits every year. Some of those players are set to compete this week in the 2022 AHSAA Super 7 state championships at Auburn University's Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Here's a look at the FBS-offered recruits in the Super 7.

Class 7A, Wednesday, 7 p.m.

Anquon Fegans, Thompson, So.: The five-star safety has 64 tackles, nine interceptions, two forced fumbles and made a big impact in his first season as a starter. Fegans is the No. 6 sophomore in the country in the 247Sports Composite.

Kaleb Harris, Thompson, Jr.: Harris, 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, is another star safety with offers from Auburn, Jackson State, Arkansas, LSU and more. He has four interceptions, including one in the semifinals against Hoover.

Tony Mitchell, Thompson, Sr.: Mitchell, a five-star Alabama commit, plays cornerback, but has been recruited as a safety by Alabama. He has five pass deflections and is a physical player with 52 tackles, seven for loss.

Stanton Ramil, Thompson, Sr.: The four-star 6-foot-7 offensive tackle is No. 21 at his position in the nation. The Michigan State commit anchors the offensive line that's helped Thompson's offense find a rhythm down the stretch.

Zach Sims, Thompson, Jr.: The quarterback with offers from Louisville and Pittsburgh has not started since he was injured in the regular season finale. He could play in the championship, however, with his experience over standout eighth-grader Trent Seaborn, who has quarterbacked all three of Thompson's playoff games.

Elijah Williams, Thompson, Sr.: The 6-4, 290-pound defensive tackle has offers from South Carolina, Maryland and Charlotte.

Peter Woods, Thompson, Sr.: Woods is the No. 33 recruit in the country and a Clemson commit. He has 83 tackles, 21 for loss, eight sacks and to fumble recoveries.

Bradyn Joiner, Auburn, Sr.: Joiner has been both an all-state offensive and defensive lineman. Back on the offensive line, the four-star Auburn commit leads Auburn's rushing attack.

Class 6A, Friday, 7 p.m.

KJ Lacey, Saraland, So.: The talented underclassman holds offers from Louisville, Troy, UAB, UCF, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern. The 6-foot, 175-pound quarterback has good ball placement with 39 touchdowns and 3,046 yards passing to just five interceptions.

Ryan Williams, Saraland, So.: The 6-foot, 150-pound Alabama five-star receiver commit has had a monster playoff-run, including a six-touchdown performance. He has 80 receptions for 1,557 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Class 5A, Thursday, 7 p.m.

Zion Grady, Charles Henderson, So.: The 6-foot-4 five-star edge with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Tennessee and more has 81 tackles, 27 for loss, 21 quarterback pressures and two forced fumbles.

Anthony Miles, Ramsay, Sr.: Miles, a 6-5, 285-pound three-star Vanderbilt commit, leads an offense that rushes for 174.3 yards and passes for 195 yards per game.

Class 4A, Friday, 11 a.m.

J'Marion Burnette, Andalusia, Jr.: The 6-foot-1, 210-pound four-star running back hasn't played since the first round, when he rushed 31 times for 156 yards and a touchdown. That's a regular stat line for the Alabama-, Auburn- and Georgia-offered junior.

Jaeden Jackson, Andalusia, Sr.: The 6-1, 275-pound defensive lineman Jackson last received a FBS offer in March, but holds offers from Florida State, Maryland, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Coastal Carolina and more.

Class 3A, Thursday, 11 a.m.

KJ Jackson, St. James, Jr.: The 6-3, 215-pound three-star quarterback has offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Kansas, Ole Miss, UCF, Penn State and Troy. He has 2,159 yards and 32 touchdown passing and five touchdowns rushing.

Ziggy Holloway, St. James, Jr.: Holloway, who plays wide receiver and cornerback, has an offer from Marshall and 24 receptions for 554 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Class 1A, Thursday, 3 p.m.

Bryston Dixon, Leroy, Sr.: The 6-foot-4, 298-pound three-star Georgia Southern defensive line commit leads a defense that allowed more than 19 points just once.

Malcolm Pugh, Leroy, Sr.: Pugh, 6-4 and 210 pounds with offers from Louisiana Tech and Georgia Southern, plays at the edge and causes havoc with Dixon at the line of scrimmage.
