The city announced on Thursday that it was, however, canceling the planned rib fest that was to be held over the holiday weekend in Lock 3.

There are concerns that tensions over a police-involved shooting earlier in the week could lead to protests and marches this weekend in the downtown area.

The downtown fireworks display will be set off at the conclusion of the RubberDucks baseball game Monday night.

The city's other firework displays will be launched from Patterson Park Sports Complex in North Hill and the Akron Executive Airport at 9:45 p.m. in East Akron.

Residents can tune into WONE (97.5 FM) to get live updates on the launch status and listen to music that will be synchronized to the display.

The Akron RubberDucks said Friday that Monday's scheduled 7:05 p.m. game against the Altoona Curve is also still on.

The ball club is also still planning to host a showing of "Space Jam: A New Legacy" on the ballpark's giant video screen on Sunday night.

Fans can watch the movie from the seats or on a blanket in the outfield and stay behind to watch a fireworks display afterwards.

Tickets are $10 at the gate to help raise money for the Summa Health Foundation.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts around 7 p.m.
