The live-action adaptation of the ’80s anime masterpiece Akira is seemingly forever stuck in development hell. So it might be a while before we see an actor don the iconic jacket worn by Kaneda. But why wait for a Hollywood star to wear one in real life? Now, you can buy a replica one for yourself to wear. The folks at FUNimation will soon offer an exclusive, limited edition Akira red leather jacket. And it truly evokes the one seen in the iconic anime film.

The premium leather jacket arrives at The FUNimation Shop this July, for a price of $450. Yes, it’s pretty steep. But if you want the authentic Neo-Tokyo look, you’ll have the chance. So far, only 300 of these stellar jackets are available in the North American market. Based on the original art of Katsuhiro Otomo, this Akira replica jacket showcases design work by Carlo Levy, Alessandro Tombetta, and Stefan Henzgen. No word yet on if wearing it will move you to loudly yell out the name “Tetsuo” all the time.

Made from genuine leather, the replica jacket comes with high-quality lining with functional clasps, just like the ones seen in the movie. The jacket is of Italian design, but manufactured in Germany. It adheres to the Akira manga’s original design aesthetic, while also leaning into the anime feature’s style. Now, if only someone would manufacture a replica of that cool, Neo-Tokyo motorcycle to go along with it. Just to complete the whole look. We’d love to see that as the ultimate Akira cosplay.
