Aggies make Final Four for 2023 Defensive lineman, Sydir Mitchell

Texas A&M has officially been named to the “Final Four” for one of the top-ranked 2023 defensive line prospects in the country, Sydir Mitchell, with his final list including Georgia, Miami, Texas, and Texas A&M. Mitchell is going into his final season at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey, with his sights set on choosing to play at one of the top programs in the country.

The Aggies have been heavily interested in Mitchell since last summer, offering him on July 11th, 2020, and after a productive junior season where he accumulated 40 tackles 4.5 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks on the season, the offers started stacking up.

Mitchell’s recruiting journey reached the finish line in mid-June, taking official visits to Georgia on May 20th, Texas A&M on June 3rd, Miami on June 10th, and Texas on June 17th, with the Longhorns having the most momentum as it currently stands.

In a brief scouting report from the National Recruiting Analyst for 247Sports,  Brian Dohn, Dohn describes Mitchell’s ability as a player:

Ideal size and length for defensive tackle. Works hands well and understands leverage. Possesses natural strength. Traits exist to be a run stopper in middle. Plays with low center of gravity. Strong and has natural power. Gets off well at line of scrimmage. Shows an ability to stack and shed. Manipulates torso to through gaps. Will benefit greatly as he matures and adds lower body strength. Saw varsity action at high-level North Jersey program.

With his announcement set for Sunday, July 3rd, at 6:30 PM Eastern, 5:30 PM Central, which will be broadcasted on CBS Sports HQ, Sydir Mitchell will go on to make one of the biggest decisions for both his football and academic future.
