Aggies fall to Florida in semi’s of SEC tourney

The Texas A&M baseball team earned a trip to the SEC tournament semi-finals with a comeback win over the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday night. That loss pushed Alabama to the losers bracket for a game against the Florida Gators on Saturday morning.

Florida powered past Alabama 11-6, to advance to the semi-finals where the Aggies awaited.

Unfortunately for A&M, the Gators Saturday scoring barrage continued into the evening.

It started in the top of the 2nd when Jud Fabian hit solo homerun off Aggie starter Robert Hagen, and continued with runs scored in six consecutive innings. Altogether, Aggie pitchers gave up nine runs, on nine hits, and walked six, while their defense committed two errors.

Offensively, for the first time in what feels like weeks, the A&M bats fell silent, only seven Aggies reached base, and only Ryan Targac managed an extra-base hit with his 9th inning double, after the game was out of reach.

The loss put an end to the Aggies SEC tournament run, and now Jim Schlossnagle’s team will wait to find out their NCAA tournament seeding.
