Adventures on the River offering outdoor activities as summer heats up

WAVERLY— With the temperatures rising and the school year coming to a close many people are anticipating getting out and having fun.

Adventures on the River is now open for the summer offering those in Waverly a way to enjoy the outdoors.

Adventures on the River is located on the Scioto River and offers guests a safe environment full of activities, including kayaking, swimming, fishing, camping, airsoft and more. Kayakers have the option of a seven-mile or 14-mile excursion.

They were established in 2021 by owner Bobby Oliver who was happy to bring more activities to an area where he found there was not much to do. While opening in a pandemic was hard the business has continued to grow and expand. They are currently looking at adding ziplines and axe throwing to their list of activities.

They also expect to offer more events, like Christmas lights, later in the year once the camping season comes to an end.

Adventures on the River has teamed up with Winston's Camping in Chillicothe to offer RV rentals for overnight guests. Winston's Camping takes care of delivery, set-up and teardown when you rent a camper from them.

Along with Adventures on the River, Winston's Camping offers services to those staying at Deer Creek State Park, Shawnee State Park, Pike Lake State Park, Hocking Hills State Park and Tar Hollow State Park.
