Addison man indicted on rape, burglary charges after police say he attacked Woodhull woman

A 21-year-old Addison man is accused of unlawfully entering a Town of Woodhull residence in September 2021 and raping a woman.

Blake Calaman was indicted Tuesday by a Steuben County grand jury and he was charged with first-degree rape and third-degree burglary, both felonies, and third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker said Calaman knowingly entered the residence with the intent of committing a crime. He said Calaman attacked the victim, engaged in sexual intercourse, and physically injured her.

“The crime was reported by the victim, who identified Calaman,” Baker said. “The victim was taken from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital.”

New York State Police in Bath investigated the case.

Calaman was arraigned in Steuben County Court and sent to Steuben County Jail, where he was released on $5,000 cash bail, according to Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard.
