Adam Schefter: Dolphins not expected to pursue Tom Brady in 2023

After a strong season, the Miami Dolphins have continued their public endorsement of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as the starter going forward.

General manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel both spoke about their starter at the end of the season. However, that hasn’t stopped rumors that the Dolphins will pursue soon-to-be free agent Tom Brady, who they had been linked to in the past.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter shut down those talks, reporting that the Dolphins aren’t expected to pursue Brady, and that they’re committed to Tagovailoa.

Miami was penalized last offseason for tampering with Brady while he was still under contract. If they were to go after the 46-year-old again, they’d need to make sure there were no links to him before the legal-tampering period.

The Dolphins do have a decision to make this at the position this offseason, even if they plan to stick with Tagovailoa, as his fifth-year option needs to be picked up or declined. With the injury history, that decision is a bit more complicated than it should be.
