ACC football power rankings: We'll know soon if it should be Clemson or (huh?) Syracuse

Wins by Clemson and Syracuse set up a No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown after Week 7 of the college football season as NC State takes its biggest tumble of the season.

Here are the USA TODAY Network's ACC power rankings.

1. Clemson (7-0, 5-0 ACC)

The Tigers remained undefeated behind a three-touchdown performance from DJ Uiagalelei as No. 4 Clemson held off Florida State 34-28. Another big game. This time it's Syracuse for first place in the Atlantic.

2. Syracuse (6-0, 3-0)

The Orange begin the season 6-0 for the first time since 1987 after a 24-9 win over No. 15 NC State.

Last week: No. 4

3. Wake Forest (5-1, 1-1)

The Demon Deacons had an open week.

Last week: No. 2

4. UNC (6-1, 3-0)

UNC seized control of the Atlantic division with an exciting 38-35 win over Duke, scoring the game-winning touchdown with 16 seconds remaining.

Last week: No. 5

5. Florida State (4-3, 2-3)

FSU suffered its third straight loss to a Top 25 team, falling 34-28 to Clemson.

Last week: No. 5

6. NC State (5-2, 1-2)

The Wolfpack lost more than just a 24-9 game against Syracuse. NC State will be without starting quarterback Devin Leary for the rest of the season.

7. Miami (3-2, 1-1)

The Hurricanes earned their first ACC win of the season with a 20-14 victory over Virginia Tech.

8. Georgia Tech (3-3, 2-1)

The Yellow Jackets had an open week.

Last week: No. 8

9. Pitt (4-2, 1-1)

Pitt had an open week.

Last week: No. 9

10. Duke (4-3, 1-2)

The fighting Mike Elko's almost pulled off the upset against rival UNC but fell just short.

Last week: No. 10

11. Louisville (3-3, 1-3)

The Cardinals had an open week.

12. Boston College (2-4, 1-2)

The Eagles had an open week.

13. Virginia Tech (2-5, 1-3)

The Hokies lost 20-14 to Miami.

Last week: No. 13

14. Virginia (2-4, 0-3)

The Cavaliers had an open week.

Last week: No. 14
