Party meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m.

"The elections of 2022 will be new territory for many candidates, including those running for county commission and school board seats," the local Republican Party news release stated.

The Anderson County Republican Party stated that it "welcomes qualified, capable candidates who wish to run as a Republican and offers the following explanation for those interested in running." A synopsis of the change in the election for Anderson County Commission and Anderson County Board of Education was provided by the Party and verified with Mark Stephens, Anderson County Election Commission administrator.

Every candidate who asks the Election Commission office for a petition to run for public office will be asked if they want to run under a political party designation, including for what is believed to be the first time in this county — the School Board and County Commission seats. The local Republican Party will include those running as Republican for these seats on the ballot for the Republican Primary in May. The Anderson County Democratic Party has chosen not to include races for School Board and County Commission on its primary in May.

Candidates who would want to declare themselves a Democrat would have to file as an Independent and they would run against the winners from the Republican Primary in the Anderson County General Election in August.

Anyone wanting more information about this month’s meeting or about running as a Republican candidate should contact the chairwoman by calling or texting Myra Mansfield at (865) 712-8027 or by sending an email to actngop@gmail.com.
