Abilene High eases past Wichita Falls Rider, Iowa Park in tennis

Abilene High beat Wichita Falls Rider 14-5 and Iowa Park 18-1 in a pair of nondistrict dual tennis matches Wednesday.

The Eagles (7-1) began the day with the victory over the Rider Raiders in Wichita Falls. Griffin Sullivan, Ben Neie, Noah Morris, Landon Morris and Juan DelaPaz each won their singles matches in straight sets to spark the victory.

The AHS boys also went undefeated in both singles and doubles in the win over the Hawks in Iowa Park.

“Very happy to be 7-1 on the season,” AHS coach Stacy Bryan said. “They got off the bus ready to play. Had to deal with a lightning delay, and the kids responded well. We had some new kids step up today. They get better each match.”

The Eagles play Weatherford (8 a.m.) and Aledo (2 p.m.) Monday in a pair of nondistrict matches at the AHS courts.
