Abilene Christian men rough up Division III Schreiner in basketball

Three Abilene Christian players scored in double figures as the Wildcats blasted Division III Schreiner 88-47 in a nonconference men’s basketball game Monday at the Teague Center.

Logan McLaughlin scored a game-high 13 points, while Tobias Cameron and Airion Simmons scored 12 each for ACU (3-2), which won its third consecutive game and second against a DIII opponents. The Wildcats beat McMurry 89-54 on Saturday.

Cameron also had a team-high seven rebounds, and Simmons had five. Thirteen players scored for the Wildcats.

Jalen Ned led the Mountaineers (2-5) with nine points. It was an exhibition game for Schreiner but ACU will count it toward its record.

ACU, which scored the first 19 points and led 48-18 at halftime, forced 34 turnovers and outscored Schreiner 37-15 off the miscues. The Wildcats also outscored the Mountaineers 54-22 in the paint.

ACU plays DIII University of Dallas at 7 p.m. Wednesday before playing former Southland Conference rival Incarnate Word at 3 p.m. Saturday, both at the Teague Center.
