Aberdeen Christian, De Smet boys keep winning; Hamlin sweeps on Thursday

No. 1 Class B Aberdeen Christian and No. 3 Class B De Smet each continued their winning ways in South Dakota high school boys basketball on Monday.

The Knights improved to 14-0 with a 63-39 Lake Region Conference win over Northwestern. The Bulldogs uppedd their record to 13-2 with a 80-62 Dakota Valley Conference win over Elkton-Lake Benton.

Aberdeen Christian used 19-point performances from Jackson Isakson and Ethan Russell to win. Malek Wieker contributed 10 points and nine rebounds.

Lincoln Woodring scored 19 points, Quintin Fischbach 11 and Jude Ortmeier nine for Northwestern.

A 37-point, 17-rebound performance by Damon Wilkinson paced De Smet. He surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career. The Bulldogs also received 12 points and six assists from Kasen Janssen, 12 points and four steals from Kadyn Fast and 10 points and six assists from George Jensen.

Ryan Krog finished with 26 points, five rebounds and five assists for ELB. Carson Griffith chipped in with nine and Anthony Even eight.

Other Boys Basketball

Hamlin 65, Castlewood 43: The Chargers took the Lake Central Conference game with 20 points from Tyson Stevenson, 17 from Brennan Keszler and 12 from Jackson Wadsworth. Castlewood's leaders include Lane Tvedt with 14 points, Bryon Laue eight and Jackson Schofield seven.

Waubay-Summit 60, Florence-Henry 43: Damon Opdahl recorded 25 points, seven rebounds and four steals to lead the Mustangs. Jackson Wohlleber added 17 points and Jonathan Johnston nine points and six rebounds. Mehki Keller tallied 15 points, Tegan Sumner nine and Ty Bergh eight for Florence-Henry.

Warner 51, Leola-Frederick Area 47 (OT): Hunter Cramer poured in 31 points to help the Monarchs outlast the Titans. Brodey Sauerwein contributed 10 for Warner. Noah Kippley scored 22, Sam Vetter nine and Brayden Sumption seven for LFA.

Faulkton Area 76, Sunshine Bible Academy 33: Layne Cotton did it all for Faulkton Area, finishing with 26 points, 11 rebounds, eight steals and five assists. Roman DiMaria notched 18 points and four steals, Spencer Melius eight points and Charlie Deiter seven points. SBA received 13 points from Nolan Triebwasser, seven points from Daniel Gerbracht and five steals from Parker Jones.

Estelline-Hendricks 64, Colman-Egan 34: The Redhawks took the Dakota Valley Conference game, getting 17 points from Joseph McAninch, 11 from Braxton Saathoff and eight from Mattix Hausman. Braxton Pravecek added eight points and six rebounds and Wyat James six and seven. Jase Mousel paced Colman-Egan with nine points and six rebounds.

Sioux Valley 86, Flandreau 31: Oliver Vincent produced 27 points, eight assists and five steals and Alec Squires 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the second-rated Class A Cossacks (12-1) to the Lake Central Conference win. Patrick Carey added 13 points, Hudsyn Ruesink seven points and Maxwell Engebretson eight points, four assists and five steals. Luke Sheppard had 10 points and six rebounds for Flandreau.

Dell Rapids St. Mary 82, Iroquois-Lake Preston 58: The Cardinals won the Dakota Valley Conference game with the help of Nic Gaspar (27 points), Trevon Beckman (21 points), Maverick LeBrun (15 points) and Trimmer Hanson (13 points). Logan Peskey and Tobias Arbeiter paced ILP with 19 and 16 points, respectively.

Waverly-South Shore 70, Tri-State 48: Owen Gilmour poured in 28 points and Landon Maag added 18 and Dan Dalton nine to lead the Coyotes to the Eastern Coteau Conference win. Isaiah Rydell had 14 points and Zachary Smith 11 for Tri-State.

Ipswich 51, Miller 45: Trevor Heinz recorded 22 points and seven steals and Chet Peterson 12 points and seven steals for Ipswich. Miller was paced by Alex Schumacher's 13 points.

Deuel 61, Groton Area 52: Braydon Simon and Gavin Benck each tallied 17 points and Carter Leddy 10 to lead Deuel to the Northeast Conference win. Tate Larson finished with 21 points and Jacob Zak 14 for Groton Area.

Scores: Mobridge-Pollock 58, Belle Fourche 57; and Lac qui Parle Valley 86, Benson 85 (Minn.). No other details were reported.

Girls Basketball

Hamlin 57, Castlewood 23: The top-rated Class A Chargers upped their record to 15-0 with the Lake Central Conference victory, getting 18 points from Kami Wadsworth, 12 from Addie Neuendorf and nine each from Ally Abraham and Marissa Bawdon. Maddie Horn scored nine points and Olivia Akin six for the Warriors.

Milbank 48, Aberdeen Roncalli 28: Isabella Anderson (18 points and seven rebounds), Maurina Street (13 and 10) and Claire Snaza (six and seven) combined to lead Milbank to the Northeast Conference victory. Ava Hanson finished with eight points and four rebounds, Maddie Huber six points and seven rebounds and Rylee Voeller six points for Roncalli.

Great Plains Lutheran 58, Wilmot 43: The Panthers overcame a 35-point effort by Wilmot's Addison Heinje by getting 15 points from Olivia Holmen, 12 from Halle Bauer, eight from Esta Cameron and seven from Abby Kjetland. Holmen also had six rebounds, four blocked shots, four assists and three steals and Emma Dornbusch four rebounds. Heinje also added 10 steals and six rebounds for Wilmot.

Redfield 49, Webster Area 31: Ashlyn Clausen had 14 points and seven rebounds, Camryn Rohlfs nine points and six rebounds, Ellie Evans nine points and Katie Rozell eight points and eight rebounds to propel Redfield in the Northeast Conference game. Bearcat leaders included Harley Johnson, 10 points and five rebounds; Erin Case seven points and Carrington Hanson seven rebounds.

Northwestern 47, Aberdeen Christian 33: Ella Haven collected 15 points, eight rebounds, five steals and three assists to lead Northwestern to the Lake Region Conference victory. Ella Boekelheide chipped in with 10 points, Adriana Ratigan eight points and eight rebounds and Ashley Haven 11 rebounds. Sophia Fogarty (14 points), Chloe Holt (10 points and six rebounds) and Chloe Bosma (nine points and nine rebounds) paced Aberdeen Christian.

Faulkton Area 48, Sunshine Bible Academy 28: The Trojans rolled with 14 points and 10 rebounds from Addison Melius, nine points from Kelli Stoeckler and eight points from Ashly Senn. Sadie Konechne and Abby Hinman each had eight points for SBA. Hinman also made seven steals.

Miller 62, Ipswich 21: Morgan Kolda sparked Miller with 17 points. Jaden Werdel followed with nine and Ally Mullaney and Tricia Lammers each seven for the Rustlers. Gabby Wald scored eight points for Ipswich.

Canby 50, Lakeview 38: Braelyn Merrit's 15 points and Kortney Leppke's 11 points and 15 rebounds carried Canby to victory. Paige Nelson and Brynn Kockelman each contributed seven points and AshleeAnn Frazeur six.

Dell Rapids St. Mary 86, Iroquois-Lake Preston 46: Ella Griffin garnered 27 points, Whitney Warwick 17 and Madala Hanson 15 to carry St. Mary to the Dakota Valley Conference win. Adison Moore tallied 24 points for ILP.

Dupree 42, McLaughlin 38: Daci Lends His Horse notched 18 points and Rylin Rousseau 14 for Dupree. Mari Jo Richards scored 15 points and Raegin Yellow Earrings and Anaya Mellette each seven for McLaughlin.

Lac qui Parle Valley 52, MACCRAY 35 (Minn.): The Eagles improved to 16-3 with 14 points and 12 rebounds from Camryn Lee, 11 points and five rebounds from Rylee Lund, nine points and six rebounds from Ayanna Gipson and 13 points, five rebounds and six assists from Taylor Shelstad. Emma Thein's 19 points and Brielle Janssen's 13 topped MACCRAY.

Groton Area 49, Deuel 31: Sydney Leicht's 20 points and Jerica Locke's eight guided Groton Area to the Northeast Conference win. Harley Hennings scored 13 points for Deuel.

Wolsey-Wessington 59, De Smet 54: Second-rated Class B Wolsey-Wessington held off De Smet with 18 points from Mallory Miller, 13 from Lainey Uttecht and 12 from Leah Williams. Hazel Luethmers scored 19 points, Jada Burke 13, Alyssa Asleson nine and Mirra Beck eight for De Smet.

Scores: Leola-Frederick Area 43, Warner 39; Belle Fourche 62, Mobridge-Pollock 34; Sisseton 63, Clark-Willow Lake 38; Oakes 63, Enderlin 43 (N.D.); and Sargent County 60, Ellendale 43 (N.D.). No other details were reported.
