Aaron Fezzey named Superior High School principal

Apr. 26—SUPERIOR — A new principal has been chosen to helm Superior High School for the 2022-2023 school year.

Aaron Fezzey, currently an assistant principal at Superior Middle School, will step into the position July 1. The leadership change was announced by District Administrator Amy Starzecki in a Monday, April 25, email to families.

"Mr. Fezzey has accepted the position and is looking forward to working with the SHS school community next year," she said.

Fezzey spent eight years at the high school — first as a reading teacher, then an instructional coach — before moving to the middle school. He has continued his connection to the high school, however, as an assistant coach for the Spartan football team.

"His calm and commanding presence, as well as his proven instructional leadership skills, will be a strong addition to the Superior High School team," Starzecki said.

A number of schools will welcome new leaders in the 2022-2023 school year. Current high school principal Rick Flaherty will take the principal role at Lake Superior Elementary School, replacing retiring principal Dan Hicks. Jason Kalin, an instructional coach at SHS, will be the new principal of Bryant Elementary School. Current Bryant principal Matt Amerson will move to the high school as an assistant principal.
