9 former Cardinals players on Bills, Chiefs

The AFC Championship Game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs features a few former Arizona Cardinals players. There are four former Cardinals on the Bills and five on the Chiefs.

In all, between the active rosters and the practice squads, nine former Cardinals are part of the AFC title game.

Bills QB Matt Barkley

Barkley is Buffalo’s backup quarterback. He spent the 2015 season with the Cardinals as their No. 3 quarterback and never saw game action.

Bills WR John Brown

Brown was drafted by the Cardinals in the third round in 2014 and played four years for them before leaving in free agency. He is in his second season with Buffalo but only played in eight games this season, dealing with injuries.

Bills WR Andre Roberts

Roberts was drafted by the Cardinals in the third round in 2010. He is mainly a return specialist and is in his second year with the Bills. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for the third consecutive season.

Bills CB Duke Thomas

Thomas is on Buffalo’s practice squad. He was cut by the Cardinals before the season after spending part of the season in 2019 on their practice squad.

Chiefs S Tyrann Mathieu

Mathieu was drafted by the Cardinals in 2013 in the third round and he played five seasons for them. He was released in 2018 and reemerged as a star. He was an All-Pro in 2019 and is a Pro Bowler this year.

Chiefs DE Alex Okafor

Okafor was drafted by the Cardinals as well, taken in the fourth round in 2013. He played four seasons for the Cardinals. He is in his second year with the Chiefs. He played in 11 games and had three sacks.

Chiefs TE Ricky Seals-Jones

Seals-Jones had been on the practice squad but was signed to the roster last week before the divisional round. He played for the Cardinals in 2017 and 2018, entering the league as an undrafted rookie and converting from receiver to tight end. He appeared in two games this season for the Chiefs but did not catch a pass.

Chiefs FB Anthony Sherman

Sherman was drafted by the Cardinals in 2011 and traded to the Chiefs in 2013. He has played for them ever since. He missed three games this season, his first missed games since 2012.

Chiefs TE Evan Baylis

Baylis signed to the practice squad during the week of the divisional round of the playoffs. He spent the year with the Cardinals bouncing between the practice squad and active roster.
