6 children and teenagers shot at Raleigh nightclub Friday night
Six children and teenagers were shot at a night club in Raleigh Friday night.
The six victims, ranging in age from 12 to 17, were shot during a fight at a private event geared toward teenagers at Club Dreams, 2414 Paula St., according to police.
“The incident started out as an altercation inside of the club,” said Raleigh Police Lt. Jason Borneo in an interview with The News & Observer Saturday. “The firearm was discharged within the club. The altercation then spilled out into the parking lot where additional gunshots were fired.”
The first calls into 911 began at 10:54 p.m. Friday.
Four of the six children shot were girls and two were boys. All of the victims are recovering and their injuries are not considered life threatening, Borneo said. All six of the victims were still at the hospital early Saturday, he said.
There were no off-duty Raleigh Police officers acting as security, Borneo said, adding he wasn’t able to confirm if other security was at the club. Police didn’t have an estimate of how many teenagers were at the party.
There are no reported suspects or arrests at this time, Borneo said.
A phone call and email to Club Dreams was not returned Saturday afternoon.
This was the second shooting involving a teenager in Raleigh Friday. An 18-year-old was found shot and killed at the scene of a car crash in the 5400 block of Kissimmee Lane Friday afternoon.
